Greetings, or rather sanibonani (sah-nee-boh-NAH-nee), which is Zulu for Hello!
I have recently been appointed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to serve as a volunteer in the ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission Program, beginning in late August. This twelve month program currently operates in six countries around the globe, and its mission is to provide ELCA young adults with a year-long international mission experience that will contribute to their development as servant-leaders for the church. This means leading a simple life in a host community, learning from them and becoming globally formed and globally informed through my experiences. I will be living in the small town of Carolina in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa and will be serving with the Igwa Circuit of the Eastern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Southern Africa (ELCSA), which incorporates numerous congregations in both urban and rural settings. Service opportunities may include: visitation of neighboring parishes, worship leadership, church administration, young adult’s league, etc. In addition, there are opportunities for service in the greater Carolina community, such as: agriculture development, HIV/AIDS outreach, soup kitchens, and many other things. I invite you to ask questions and share your stories with me as I prepare for this exciting adventure! ELCA Global Mission contributes up to $6,000 for each young adult’s year of mission service. However, I am responsible for raising a minimum of $4,000 toward my support package. This package provides transportation costs, housing, board or food allowance, a small stipend, health insurance, U.S. and in-country orientation, and a re-entry conference. You can support me in a number of ways, including encouragement, prayer, and financial assistance. New Federal Rule Bans Use of Some Wireless Microphones

Duties would include playing for one worship service every Sunday morning plus rehearsing with the choir on Wednesday evenings and playing for other occasional services. Pipe organ experience is desired but not mandatory. Our pipe organ is superb! Annual salary is $5,200 – $6,500 depending on training and experience.
